Łukasz Huculak

The artist uses a limited colour palette and concentrates on suppressed and toned down combinations that highlightsthe ascetics of the presentation. He shows the mutual relation between the object and the space in which it is placed. Huculak paints not only still life. He also likes landscapes, especially urban ones. They emanate with a lazy and sleepy atmosphere of oddity bordering on surrealism.

A well-known poet, Julia Hartwig said about his paintings: (...) clay vessels are saturated with a delicate, flickering colour which catches light in a natural way and becomes an indispensable component of the form. The pictures get special life and luminosity. (...) Speaking about these paintings, it is hard not to mention Morandi’s bottles and Zurbaran’s clay pots. If they are Łukasz Huculak’s masters, he could hardly make a better choice."
