Anna Mierzejewska

Dealing with a multitude of subjects, the artist loves the big format. In spite of the picture size, the viewer may still have an impression that the subject presented in the canvas has too little room.
Anna Mierzejewska graduated in 1996 from the Painting and Sculpture Faculty in Wrocław and since that time she has taken part in a dozen or so individual and collective exhibitions, was awarded the “Picture of 2002” competition and published in colour magazines, like Fluid. She makes series, i.e. an awarded series of airplanes, portraits of women, chairs, night life and sports. All of them have a deliberate line, daring colours and loneliness. The persons or objects painted seem alienated and at the same time really vividthe positive energy comes from their environment with their shape, colour or just their existence.
Mierzejewska strives for an artistic ideal which she defines in the following way: "I would like to paint a picture that seems to have been painted by itself, with a single brushstroke, a picture that breathes, that has not been produced with great effort and remains fresh".
