When working on a painting Motelski combines different techniques, mainly oil and acrylic, joining the expressively painted surfaces lightly with precise forms. He paints on different sizes of canvas, depending on the subject forming the cycles, reeds, trees, flowers, old buildings, horizons.
He is principally interested in rhythm, order and serenity which are contained in Nature. He starts his work from a study of Nature, next processes the fragments of reality through the removal of unnecessary elements, enforcing what is essential in the picture. The landscape, simplified almost to abstract, basic forms, is intended to impart an effect from the surfaces of the colours in the diverse painting textures. Thus are created paintings on the borders of abstraction and reality.
